College Profile

Yashwantrao Chavan Mahavidyalaya, Halkarni was established in 1989. It is governed and managed by Daulat Vishwastha Sanstha, Halkarni. It is the foremost college in the Chandgad Tehsil, situated on the border of tristates- Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa. The college was established with the noble mission to impart higher education to the children of poor farmers, dwelling in the hilly, mountainous and backward region.

The college is affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur and has got 2(f) and 12 (b) from UGC in the year 2008. It has undergone two cycles of accreditation by the NAAC. In the second cycle, it was accredited in 2016 with B Grade and 2.04 CGPA.

The college offers nine UG programmes in Arts, Commerce and Science. It has set its vision to generate academic, social, physical, cultural, spiritual and moral values among the aspirants. The college has established IQAC in 2003 and has been reconstituted in 2018 as per the revised guidelines, prescribed by NAAC. Since its establishment, the IQAC has been playing catalytic role to promote majors for quality sustenance and enhancement in academic and administrative performance. The recommendations made by the NAAC Peer Team in the preceding cycles have been directed with perspective plan and with priority.
